Australian's Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA,) is the governing body and responsible entity for the data sets. Data is produced in the form of code books, mapping tables, and electronic code lists.

The guidelines are based on:

ICD-10-AM Tabular: Provides a list of codes and categories for the systematic classification of diseases and other health conditions.

ICD-10-AM Alphabetic Index: Provides an alphabetical index of diseases and other health conditions that are classified using ICD-10-AM.

ACHI Tabular: Classifies procedures, interventions, and other treatments. ACHI codes have seven numeric digits. Where an intervention has an MBS equivalent, the first five digits are the MBS item number, followed by a two-digit extension representing specific interventions included in that item.

ACHI Alphabetic Index: This book provides an alphabetical index of procedures, interventions, and other treatments that are classified using ACHI.

ACS: The Australian Coding Standards were developed to support sound coding convention for use with ICD-10-AM and ACHI. They apply to all public and private hospitals in Australia. The ongoing revision of the ACS ensures the guidelines reflect changes in clinical practice, clinical classification amendments, and various user requirements of admitted patient data collections.

Note: These publications are updated every two years. ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS Twelfth edition has been in practice since July 1, 2022.

Medicare Benefit Schedule (MBS): Is a list of medical services and procedures that are subsidized by the Australian government. It covers a wide range of healthcare services, including consultations with doctors, pathology tests, and surgery. The MBS ensures that Australians have access to a variety of medical services regardless of their ability to pay.

Saudi Arabian government and the Commonwealth Government of Australia represented by the Department of Health and Aging to become a licensed country in utilizing the ICD-10-AM (6th edition) & the Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Groups (AR-DRGs).
